It was closer than it should have been for longer than it should have been, but it ended just as it should have as the Bears lost in Green Bay and ended their hopes for a playoff berth in fitting fashion. Josh McCown mounted a valiant effort, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Aaron Rodgers’ five touchdowns.

Christmas Eve or not, there’s no way I’d let a schedule of great NFL action slip past my nets! The playoff positioning is settling in, but there’s some unresolved business in the NFC East with two pivotal games on Saturday. There’s plenty to talk about in week 16, so let’s get right to it!

It was an ugliest of games for the team in the prettiest of cities. After winning 11 straight games to finish the regular season, the San Diego Chargers came out with a resounding thud at home against the Jets on Sunday. Penalties, missed field goals and turnovers formed a perfect storm of suck for the Chargers and kept the Jets in the game until the final quarter where they took and held onto the lead to advance to the AFC championship game with a 17-14 victory.

The six finalists were announced for the Premier League's footballer of they year. Suspiciously, of the six finalists a whopping five! Yeah, that's right, five! Were Manchester United players. The players nominated are GK Edwin Van Der Saar, Defenders Rio Ferdinaand and Nemanja Vidic, the fine-aging Ryan Giggs and of-course, reigning player of the year, every-one's favorite villain, Cristiano Ronaldo.

I love Alabama Crimson Tide Football. I love everything about the program, the proud heritage and the lifestyle. The stone fisted blows struck by Paul “Bear” Bryant still echo through every acre of Tuscaloosa to this day. You would be hard pressed to find a school, a town, or a culture that loves their team more than the University of Alabama.

Cub fans, please say thank you to any Milwaukee Brewers fans you may know. Their team is struggling just as much as the Cubs right now. It could have been disastrous if Milwaukee would have gone on a winning streak this week as the Cubs were skidding against the Phillies and Astros. The Cubs still have a cushion in the NL Central, but they need to try to get Zambrano and Harden healthy before they make this final playoff push. Don't panic, the Cubs will be fine. They have a solid line-up all the way through the batting order, and even if they are sluggish, they will get enough wins to enter the 08 playoffs. Sorry this post is short and I haven't posted in a while, but I have been working on numerous websites. I will try to put the Cubs blog first from now on, and trust me, I will be much more talkative once these Cubbies get closer to the playoffs.

Lakers took the Blazers last night in an up tempo game that had me routing all four quarters.  This being the second straight win for the lakers after two previous losses to two of the NBA's weaker teams, was a needed win for them.  Pau Gasol had 10 points, 6 rebounds, and seven assits in his first game in nearly 3 weeks.   Kobe Bryant scored his first 14 points of 36, in the fourth quarter, which may have led to the Blazers defeat.  Travis Outlaw and martell Webster had 23 points each playing better offensively most of the night.  As with the last three games, Roy was out via his strained right groin.
